Wednesday, 11 March 2009 Report: Iran secretly executes prisoner by stoning

A 30-year-old man was executed by stoning in a prison in northern Iran after being convicted of adultery, the Amir Kabir students' website reported. According to the report, the stoning took place secretly last Thursday.

Despite the Islamic law allowing stoning, Iranian authorities declared last year that such executions would be suspended until further notice. (Dudi Cohen)
