APA: Abbas Lisani protests against changing his detention facility





Baku. Ramil Mammadli-APA. Abbas Lisani, prominent activist for the rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis protested against changing his place of detention, Lisa’s wife Rugayya Alizadeh told APARugayya noted that she had met his husband.

“Abbas Lisani said that he was expected to be transferred from Ahar to Yazd to serve the imprisonment. Abbas protested it seriously and announced that he would kill himself. Abbas Lisani knew that this was a decision of political character. He was prevented to release by additional court decisions,” she said.

Alizadeh noted that her husband was in cell in Ahar jail.Ardebil General Court sentenced him to 18-month imprisonment for participating in a demonstration on May 27, 2006 in Ardebil. In December 2007, Abbas Lisani was sentenced in a retrial to one year’s imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court in Kalayber for “spreading anti-government propaganda”. He was transferred from detention facility in Ardebil to Ahar on January 2.
